Mid-level Acrylic Fabricator

We are looking for a Mid-level Fabricator to support the creation of a wide variety of retail displays, fixtures, signage, lighted elements and other branded solutions. Primary Objective
This position effectively and independently performs a wide variety of functions within the Fabrication department. The Mid-level Fabricator takes direction from the Department Team Leader but also processes the skills to work independently, as applicable.
Areas of Responsibility
1. Fabrication Department Functions
The successful employee will possess the following skills and understanding necessary to set up and operate equipment, providing an accurate first article part for inspection -- and to troubleshoot and solve issues independently. Training to be provided.
- Heat Bending: Includes the safe uses and applications of the heat bending equipment including rod benders, wire benders, water cooled benders, and ribbon benders – rheostats and wiring – fences, weights, and cooling jigs.
- Gluing: Includes the safe uses and applications of the glues, fences, jigs and weights used during the gluing processes.
- Flame-Polishing: Includes the safe uses and applications of the flame polishing equipment including gases, gas tanks, gas tank valves, torch valves, torch tips, striker use, torch holders, polishing techniques and processes.
- Assembly: Includes the safe uses and applications of equipment and supporting products for the assembly processes.
- Machining: Includes the basic operations of the table saw, jointer, and routers.
- Process Training Certification: Employee is fully certified in select Fabrication Department processes as directed by the Team Leader or Department Manager.
2. Quality Control, Measurements, and Measurement Tools
- Understands and implements the process of first article inspection. The Mid-level Fabricator will seek the approval of the Team Leader for all first article parts and processes.
- While job(s) are in process, all parts will be viewed for quality and cleanliness as directed by the Team Leader and based on job experience.
- Understands the content listed on the Job Traveler, Cut Sheet, and Measured Drawings and works toward becoming certified in the independent use of these operational documents.
- Understands the use and mechanics of measurement equipment including dial and digital calipers, tape measures and protractors. Works toward becoming certified in the use of these measuring devices.
3. Department Maintenance and Upkeep
- Maintains an ongoing and high standard of cleanliness -- ensuring employee safety and creating a positive image for Acrylic Design Associates.
- Performs and supports a routine, thorough clean up at the end of each shift.
4. Other duties as apparent or assigned.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
- Quality and accuracy of work may be assessed via the use of quality control checks, count accuracy, and training progress reporting methods.
- Production timeliness will be assessed by the Team Leader and Department Manager. Progress will be reported on a consistent basis.
- Employee progresses to increased levels of responsibility and expertise.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Certified in department processes, as directed by team leader
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Possession of good math and problem-solving skills
- Safety and Hazardous Material training (provided by ADA)
